Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the seller or the marketplace pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same either way.

What that does and does not influence

Commissions keep this site running; they do not decide what appears on it. We feature pieces because they are good examples of a craft tradition, and we say so in our own words on every product page. Some featured listings earn us nothing at all, and we link to them anyway. We never accept payment to present a piece as authentic to a tradition when it is not, and being an affiliate never softens what we write about a technique's history.

How to tell

Pages containing affiliate links carry a notice above the purchase buttons, and affiliate links are marked with rel="sponsored" for search engines. Links without the notice earn us nothing.

Who actually sells you the piece

We are not the seller. Every purchase happens on a third-party site — usually an independent maker’s listing on a marketplace such as Etsy — under that seller’s prices, policies, and terms. Availability and prices shown here reflect the listing at the time we last checked it and can change at any moment on the seller’s side.
